GENERAL QUESTIONS

Why should I pursue an MBA/JD?

It’s simple. Today’s marketplace is competitive and regardless of your chosen profession, a graduate business degree will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to advance professionally.  In this environment you will learn the essential business skills in areas such as finance, accounting, marketing, law, management and more.  The networking and self-actualization you will obtain will allow you to work more effectively with your colleagues, clients, and external constituents.  Obtaining a MBA from Sacramento State will add value to your professional portfolio through life-long learning. The benefit of doing a joint degree with McGeorge is that they accept 12 units in graduate level course work from Sacramento State AND we accept 9 units from McGeorge.  The cost savings from the 12 units from Sacramento State being transferred to McGeorge can almost pay for your entire MBA degree.

CURRICULUM

How does the MBA/JD program work?

An arrangement between the College of Business Administration and the University of Pacific McGeorge School of Law allows a student to earn credits towards a Master of Business Administration degree and a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree concurrently.

Essentially, the CBA accepts up to 9 units taken at McGeorge to fulfill its elective requirements and McGeorge accepts 12 units of CBA graduate courses towards the JD degree, thus reducing the total units required to complete both programs. You must apply and be admitted to both programs separately. You then enroll and complete both programs in any order that you wish as long as you have at least one semester of concurrent enrollment.

PROGRAM COSTS & FINANCING YOUR MBA/JD

What is the cost of the MBA program?

The CBA's graduate programs are cost-effective choices. As part of the California State University system, Sacramento State offers the lowest available tuition and fees for a graduate program in the Sacramento region. For California residents, the 2011-2012 fees are $2,503.00 per semester for 0-6 units and $3,919.00 per semester for 7 units or more. Non-residents pay the resident fees plus $372 per unit tuition. Additional Fees: Graduate Business Professional Fee is $254 per unit (applicable to both residents and non-residents). Please note that other fees such as parking and health insurance may also be applicable.

The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Trustees.
