Graduate Business Professional Fee FAQs (updated 8/4/2009)
- Who made the decision to implement the graduate business professional fee?
The decision to implement the graduate fee was made by the California State University Board of Trustees on May 13, 2009. All CSU business schools that are either AASCB accredited or in the accreditation process will be impacted.
- CSUS CBA Programs that are subject to the graduate business professional fee: State-support MBA
- CSUS CBA Programs that are NOT subject to the graduate business professional fee: Self-support EMBA, self-support MS/ACCY, self-support MSBA/Taxation, self-support CABS
- How much is the graduate business professional fee?
$210 per credit unit in addition to the standard registration fees, tuition, and campus-based fees. All courses that apply toward the completion of the degree program will be subject to the fee.
- When will this fee take effect?
The graduate business professional fee will take effect starting in the Fall 2009 semester.
- Will the fee be imposed on all students or just students starting in Fall 2009?
Both new and continuing students will be subject to the fee.
- Does the fee apply to international and out-of-state students?
Yes, all students including international, in-state, and out-of-state residents are subject to the graduate business professional fee.
- How will revenues generated from this fee be used?
- Career services and internship programs dedicated solely to graduate students
- To attract and retain tenure-track faculty members to teach in graduate programs
- Increased graduate assistantships
- To maintain AACSB accreditation
- Financial assistance to eligible students
- Diversity recrutiment
- What if I can't afford this fee or have questions about financial aid?
- Please direct all your financial aid questions or requests to the Financial Aid Office (https://webapps1.csus.edu/faid_general/, finaid@csus.edu, LSN 1006, 278-6554).
- Up to 33 percent of the fee revenue will be set aside for financial aid.
- The university has to collect the fee first before disbursing financial aid from the fee to eligible students.
- When is the fee due?
The fee will be assessed and appeared in students' accounts on 8/12/2009 for the Fall 2009 semester. The Fall due date for the fee is 10/2/2009.
