Dr. Ozcelik is an Associate Professor in the College of Business Administration at the California State University, Sacramento. He received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of British Columbia, Canada. He holds a double-major degree in Management and Political Science, and an MBA from Bosphorus University, Turkey. His current research interests revolve around understanding the role of emotions in organizational life, focusing on such topics as emotional climate and fit; emotions and decision making; emotions and communication; and discrete emotions such as anger and loneliness. Dr. Ozcelik has been collaborating with several private and public organizations in the Greater Sacramento Area to conduct research projects and provide management training.
He has published his studies in various academic outlets, including Organization Science, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Research on Emotion in Organizations, International Journal of Work Organization and Emotion, and the Academy of Management Conference Best Papers Proceedings; and presented studies at several national and international academic conferences.
He has taught courses in business communications, organizational behavior, and management To date, Dr. Ozcelik has received the Citation of Excellence Award from the Emerald Managment Reviews, the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Academy of Management, the Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of British Columbia, and the Research and Creative Activity Award and the Pedagogy Enhancement Award grants from the California State University, Sacramento.
Outside academic work, Hakan Ozcelik has been involved with theater as an amateur actor and director for many years and has performed in several productions. He is married and has one son, who makes Hakan and his wife learn how to rediscover the joys of life.
