Dr. Martha Wilson

Dr. Marty Wilson brings a rich and varied teaching experience to CSUS, having taught in undergraduate industrial engineering, business and economic programs, as well as graduate programs in business and engineering management.

Dr. Wilson obtained her B.S. degree in industrial engineering from The Ohio State University, and an M.S. in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Washington where she began her exploration into system dynamics through the study of business and economic modeling and the role of technology in society.

Dr. Wilson conducts both pedagogical and discipline based research.  Her pedagogical research focuses on improving student learning and faculty participation in the learning process. Her discipline based research explores issues associated with supply chains, including organizational response to supply chain risk and the effect of transportation on supply chain performance.

Dr. Wilson’s interest in transportation extends beyond supply chain performance.  She has worked with the Minnesota DOT to improve snow plow operations and the Washington State DOT to train mid-level managers in decision processes.  She has also presented information on traffic congestion and congestion reduction strategies to the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Committee on Transportation and Air Quality.

Dr. Wilson is a member of the SACOG Goods Movement Advisory Board, the System Dynamics Society, the Institute for Supply Management, INFORMS, and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.  She enjoys gardening, swimming, reading and her family, but not necessarily in that order.
