Chris John Sablynski, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management

Chris John Sablynski received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the University of Washington in 2002 where he won the 2000-2001 Ph.D. Program Teaching Award. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from San Francisco State University (1996) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management) from the University of Florida (1986). Chris has been employed by or contracted with such organizations as Microsoft, The Hay Group, Chase Manhattan Bank (now JPMorgan Chase), and Dun & Bradstreet. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management in the College of Business Administration at California State University, Sacramento where he won the 2004-2005 Outstanding Teaching Award.

Dr. Sablynski's work on the employee retention construct of job embeddedness has appeared in two books and been published in the Academy of Management Journal (2001 and 2004). The 2001 article was a finalist for Best Paper in the Academy of Management Journal and the 2004 publication received international attention when it was highlighted in The Economist.

He also co-authored an article outlining best practices in qualitative research that appears in the Journal of Vocational Behavior (1999). He has presented his work at such conferences as the Academy of Management, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Western Psychological Association.

Chris is a member of the American Psychological Association, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Academy of Management, Western Academy of Management, Society of Human Resource Management and the Sacramento Area Human Resource Association.
