Dr. James Mackey

Dr. Mackey CMA, CPA is a professor at California State University Sacramento and works as a consultant in the Sacramento region. He has a national reputation as an expert in cost/managerial accounting systems and the Theory of Constraints. His current interest is in using accounting systems to support continuous improvement management systems and is actively seeking local companies with the same interests.
He has published seventeen refereed articles, fourteen at CSUS, and has written two books on management accounting. His coauthored book The Theory of Constraints and Its Implications for Management Accounting was produced in both an English and Portuguese version. His second book, Management Accounting: A Road of Discovery, was published by Thomson Learning Incorporated. In 2001 it won the prestigious American Accounting Association’s Brummet Award for Innovations in Management Accounting Education.
In 2001-2002 he served in the prestigious position as the Professor in Residence for the Institute of Management Accounting with over 70,000 practicing accounting members. For the last three years he has served on the executive of the Managerial Accounting section of the American Accounting Association.
Dr Mackey has taught all over the world including Canada, Finland, Australia, and the Peoples Republic of China as well as the Universities of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and the University of California at Davis in the United States.
